Health Care
Hospitals
Burt County is home to the Oakland Mercy Hospital located in Oakland. It was built in 1950 and an addition was added in 1968. A medical clinic was attached to the hospital in 1985. The facility has 23 acute care beds and 23 extended care beds. A 24-hr emergency room, inpatient and outpatient services, specialty clinics, surgery, radiology and laboratory services are all offered here. In addition to the medical clinic in Oakland, they also offer medical clinics in Lyons and Tekamah.
The hospital is currently considering construction of a new facility in Oakland.
Memorial Community Hospital in Blair also serves Burt County. MCH is located in Blair, 17 miles south of Tekamah. They are currently undertaking a $24.5 million addition and renovation to be ready fall 2008. MCH also offers a medical clinic in Tekamah.
Nursing Homes
Oakland Heights, built in Oakland in 1975, has a capacity for 45 beds. It also has a 22-bed assisted living unit. The Medicare-certified facility provides occupational and physical therapy, speech and language pathology, social work and activities.
Lyons Valley Manor is an 82-bed long-term care nursing facility in Lyons. The Medicare-certified facility provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and adult day care.
Golden Living Center was built in Tekamah in 1964 with a capacity for 44 beds. It is licensed as a skilled Medicare facility with 12 Medicare beds. Speech, occupational and physical therapy are offered.
