Tourism
Burt County is bordered on the east by the Missouri River. The lush farmland on the Missouri River bottom flows to the west to
meet the beautiful tree-lined bluffs. Rolling hills, creeks and abundant farmland create the rest of Burt County.
Outdoor recreation is plentiful in Burt County. Residents and visitors take advantage of the two public Missouri River access points, fishing on Summit Lake, and some of the best waterfowl hunting in the US.
If you are looking for a daytrip, each of the communities host a small town celebration in the summer. In 2009, Lyons will be celebrating its 125 year birthday with a three day celebration. Oakland, known as the Swedish Capital of Nebraska, will host their bi-annual Swedish Festival. Tekamah will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Hoot Gibson Rodeo.
